The Brood Nexus is one of the great mysteries of Hoxxes. While we know for a fact that Glyphids hatch from eggs, these malodorous, organic protuberances nonetheless expel freshly birthed and ravenous Glyphid Swarmers. It's theorized that the Brood Nexus is a completely separate genus, somehow able to replicate the DNA of other species, and use their "designs" for its own protection. Either way, if you meet one, take it out with extreme prejudice.
~ Miner's Manual Description

Glyphid Spawn are infantile Glyphids, exclusively spawned by Glyphid Brood Nexuses. While dealing the same amount of damage as Glyphid Swarmers, they are even weaker than their swarmer counterparts. When the nexus is destroyed, multiple swarmers explode out as the Nexus is destroyed. All strategies effective against Swarmers should be even more effective on spawn.

Combat[edit | edit source]

Glyphid Spawn will run at players to engage in melee combat, jumping towards nearby targets when they get close enough. In small hordes, it is common for players to be distracted by their presence as more powerful foes close in.

Weapons like the CRSPR Flamethrower are most effective at disposing of these creatures. When accompanied by Glyphid Grunt Slashers, their feeble damage is rendered more threatening should they be allowed to reach an isolated Dwarf who is absent weapons capable of Area Damage or tools like the Grappling Hook which allow for hasty escapes.

To preserve ammunition, Glyphid Spawn can be disposed of with Pickaxe attacks. Landing an attack has the capability of eliminating multiple Spawn at once if they are close enough together.

Tips[edit | edit source]

  • Due to the Spawn's low HP and tendency to spawn in groups, weapons with a large AoE radius are very effective at taking down multiple Glyphid Spawns without wasting ammo. If you don't have a weapon with an AoE effect, using your Pickaxe's power attack will be an effective way of eradicating them.
