This region is dominated by wind blasted and arid tunnels reaching dozens of miles below ground. The particular composition of the surrounding rock means practically no moisture, resulting in one of the driest regions of the planet. With water being so precious, the inhabiting wildlife is particularly aggressive, ravenous for whatever fluids reside within their prey.
— Ingame description

The Sandblasted Corridors are one of the biomes of Hoxxes IV, located in the north-east of the planet. The walls are made of a soft, sandstone-like rock which is mined easily. However, the caverns are very empty, containing giant fossilised bones and barely any vegetation whatsoever. The caves are wasted by strong winds, either from forceful windy tunnels or visibility-reducing sandstorms.

Hazards

There are a few biome specific hazards in the Sandblasted Corridors. One are the wind tunnels, holes in the walls which periodically blast heavy gusts of wind from them, launching any dwarf unfortunate enough to be in their path away with great force.

Another hazard are the sandstorms, which occasionally blow through the caverns. These do not damage the dwarves, but force them to move at 70% speed for the duration of the storm. The sand and dust will also greatly reduce visibility to a mere few meters in front of them. Enemies are unaffected, making sandstorms potentially extremely dangerous.

Finally, there is the Deeptora Honeycomb, which contains hostile insect swarms. Once approached, the bugs will swarm the dwarves and attack them. The swarms can be damaged by fire or explosives; the honeycomb itself can also be destroyed, at which point the swarms will dissipate.

Enemies

Any enemies can be encountered in the Sandblasted Corridors, including Spitball Infectors, Cave Leeches and Glyphid Dreadnoughts.

Biome Features

The Sandblasted Corridors have essentially no vegetation whatsoever, although you may come across an occasional dead tree.

Item Type Description
Functional
BF Explosive Spore
Explosive Spore
Hazardous/Supportive Plant holding a large explosive spore which will pop out if damaged. The spore explodes on impact and regenerates after a few seconds.
BF Sandstorm
Sandstorm
Hazardous Impairs vision and slows down movement of all dwarves in the cave. Fog will become much more dense seconds before a sandstorm hits. Sandstorm interval is unpredictable.
BF Wind Tunnel
Wind Tunnel
Hazardous Periodically blasts air and sand out horizontally. This can launch dwarves very far, which can be fatal.
Other
BF Fossilized Xenoform
Fossilized Xenoform
Neutral Fossilized giant bones of alien creatures.
BF Rock-Tree
Rock Tree
Neutral A fossilised tree that shatters when mined.

Ores

As with every biome, some of the ores which can be found in the Sandblasted Corridors are determined by the mission type, such as Morkite. Sandblasted Corridors do not feature certain mission types. The crafting materials found in the Crystalline Caverns are Enor pearl Enor Pearl and Magnite Magnite, with Enor Pearl being abundant, and Magnite being scarce.
