About
The Cryo Cannon is an unlockable primary weapon for the Driller. It ejects a freezing cold stream which sticks to surfaces and decreases the temperature of enemies, causing them to freeze. While its base damage is lower than the CRSPR Flamethrower, frozen enemies will recieve double damage and are completely immobilized, making them easy targets. Being frozen also prevents several enemies from performing unique abilities; for example frozen Glyphid Exploders cannot detonate, and frozen Spitball Infectors cannot fire projectiles. Keep in mind, bigger enemies with higher HP like Glyphid Praetorians take longer to freeze, and can thaw out faster. Enemies in the Glacial Strata are also more resistant to this weapon's freezing effect. When an enemy is frozen, try marking them with the Terrain Scanner to indentify them as vulnerable; your teammates will notice the mark and focus these foes down.
Unlike the Flamethrower, the Cryo Cannon does not utilize a reloading system and instead draws from one large pool of reserve ammo, similar to the Powered Minigun. Upon pressing the fire button the weapon has a brief "charge-up" period then will spew its stream of icy mixture. The stream is affected by a pressure gauge which affects the length of the stream; prolonged firing will eventually empty this meter and require a "repressurization" phase. The weapon also burns through ammo fast despite its high reserves, so without modifications to improve max ammo, firing carefully and in a controlled manner is a requirement for this weapon.
This item can only be unlocked through an assignment. After the corresponding assignment is completed this weapon can be purchased for 
7600 Credits,
